Downtempo and trip-hop aesthetics are intertwined here with the bizarre colors of the Avantgarde.
GODS FALL ON THEIR KNEES is a creative duo formed by lifelong soulmates and lovers Gabriela Nelly and Christoph Gracian Schubert. Their first collaborative tracks were created in 1990. Back then, they were under contract with Warner Chappell Intersong, and their first music project, “Velvet Link,” was shelved and lost forever in the drawers of the music industry.
Between 1996 and 2006, Christoph Gracian Schubert composed several film scores for international cinema and TV productions, with Gabriela Nelly providing vocals for these recordings. From 2006 onwards, their world was overshadowed by illness and personal turmoil, causing music to take a back seat.
Yet, even in the darkest times, the spark never truly faded. By 2020, they had fought their way through the storm, emerging with a renewed hunger for creation. Music called them back, not just as a passion, but as a vital pulse — something that had been quieted but never silenced.
The name GODS FALL ON THEIR KNEES originally comes from a stage direction in William Shakespeare’s Cymbeline.
"For us, the name also carries the meaning that even the most powerful beings must go through times of weakness and humility to find their true self."
"With each note, we aim to create a sonic universe that reflects our long musical history, with influences from over 50 years of pop music. We cannot undo our influences, we can only use them creatively and transform them into something new. This transformation is the magic of our music."
On October 4th 2024, the moment they've long awaited will finally arrive. They will release eight singles, each one building anticipation and momentum, all leading up to the unveiling of their debut album in the summer of 2025.
